CFP: Courtesy Visit CEO TNB to UMP

Kuantan, 8 October 2016 – Recently, Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) cordially welcomed a special visit by Datuk Seri Ir Azman bin Mohd, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) to UMP Gambang Campus following his appointment in the CEO Faculty Programme by the Ministry of Higher Education on 15 March 2016.

This was the TNB CEO’s return visit to UMP after the courtesy visit by the UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato' Dr. Daing Nasir Ibrahim to TNB on May, 27.  The return visit aimed to obtain a clearer view of the roles of UMP and its education system as well as to discuss the possible form of collaboration between UMP and TNB in implementing the CEO Faculty Programme agenda.

“TNB sees the CEO Faculty Programme as a positively impactful program for students and TNB has no problem in taking part and contributing to the success of this collaboration,” he said. “I can also see that UMP has the potential and has moulded on its own within the network of technical universities in Malaysia and has strategies to ensure its students have their place in the job market after graduation,” he added.

Meanwhile, Dato' Mohamad Razif bin Abdul Rahman  (TNB Vice-President, Group Human Resources) also addressed the question on the TNB criteria for potential graduates of choice during question-and-answer session. “Academic excellence does not guarantee a place in the job market because emphasis is also placed on soft skills,” he said. In his speech, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Dr. Daing Nasir Ibrahim expressed his hope that the link between UMP and TNB would become the benchmark in producing potential students.

In his return visit, the TNB CEO also received his appointment letter as Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Engineering Technology for the period of one (1) tahun effective 8 August 2016 from the Vice-Chancellor of UMP. Also present were Dato’ Mohamad Razif bin Abdul Rahman (TNB Vice-President, Group Human Resources), Professor Dato’ Dr. Rosli bin Mohd Yunus (UMP Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic & International), Professor Dr. Zulkefli bin Yaacob (UMP Assistant Vice-Chancellor, Department of Industry and Community Relations) and En. Wan Amizan bin Wan Yunus (TNB General Manager of Community Welfare).
